Hello, I’m Paige!
I was born and raised in Topeka, KS. After attending the University of Kansas for college, I secured a position in client services at a Kansas City marketing company and have lived in KC ever since. It is in this role that I learned that I love a good to-do list.
I started assisting in wedding coordination and venue management part-time five years ago. Currently, I also work for a startup helping with marketing and product development.
In my downtime, you’ll probably find me hanging out with friends or family, whether it be watching a KU or Chiefs game, vegging out on the couch watching a Netflix series, or reading a good book. I’m a sucker for a good project so I am constantly changing something in my house, baking, or completing a random craft project.
I have a fur baby, a cat, named Selby. My parents still live in Topeka and my two sisters live in Denver and Chicago. I try to make it home and travel as much as I can to visit.
Why is it essential for a bride to hire a wedding coordinator?
Couples often rely on family or friends to be their coordinator on the day of their wedding or try to do it themselves. By asking a friend or family member to take this on, or handling it personally, that person doesn’t get the opportunity to enjoy the day. They are working… and no one wants that! A coordinator takes care of the details behind the scenes to help resolve anything that may pop up so that the couple and their families will not even have to know it happened. Hiring a coordinator gives a couple the peace of mind that their vision is getting handled by a professional so a bride can be stress-free, relax, and enjoy the day.
How and when did you start in the wedding industry?
Searching for a change of pace and a creative outlet, I started assisting at weddings for a couple local KC planners. That led me to an opportunity to assist with coordination at a few KC venues. As my industry knowledge expanded, I shifted my career into planning events full time. Before joining the Veil team, I co-owned and operated a wedding coordination company, Cottonwood Events.
Tell us about a time when you helped the bride on her wedding day.
It’s tough to narrow it down to just one instance. We are helping do small behind-the-scenes work without the couple even knowing. Inevitably, there will be something that happens on the day that is unexpected, generally small, but there’s something. I have had cakes almost fall over, incorrect chair counts, missing flowers, you name it. You have to roll with it, adjust, and think on your feet! The couple won’t even have to know, and they can continue to enjoy their day with the comfort that they have you to handle it.
Why do you love working weddings?
They are all different! I love seeing a wedding come together with each couple, including their personal touches. But each wedding’s goal is the same: help two people get married and start a life together.
What is your favorite part of the wedding day?
There are so many, but I think mostly it is when all the last-minute details leading up to the big day all come together. The room is set, the guests are starting to arrive, and there is excitement in the air… it’s go time! Like many others, the first look usually gets me every time, whether that be a set-aside time before the ceremony or when the doors open, and the couple sees each other.
